Vegan

Good to know

How do you decide what counts as vegan?

Two ways. The maker says vegan on the package, product name or across its range. Or, for whole foods and simple pantry goods, the ingredient list has no animal ingredients, no dairy, egg, honey, gelatin or animal-derived additives. Anything where the label and the ingredients disagree is held back until we check it.

Do you carry vegan protein powder in Halifax?

Yes: pea, hemp, rice and blended plant proteins from Vega, Iron Vegan, Manitoba Harvest, Orgain, Sunwarrior and others, in the supplement department at both stores and online under High protein.

Where is the vegan cheese and meat?

In the refrigerated and frozen sections at both stores: Daiya, Violife, Gusta, Real Fake Meats, Big Mountain Foods, Tofurky and Gardein. Online, filter this page by Food to see them.
