Compassionate IBCLC Support

Breastfeeding and infant feeding support in Halifax

Lindsay Spidell and Sydney Stewart are International Board Certified Lactation Consultants and registered nurses. Between them they have helped hundreds of families through every stage — before the baby arrives, in the first exhausting weeks, and when things change months in.

The goal is simple: you and your baby feeding comfortably, with a plan you understand and someone to call when it wobbles.

You might be expecting your first and wondering what to expect; you might be three weeks in with a shallow latch and cracked nipples; you might be combining breast and bottle, pumping for work, or ready to wean. All of it is normal, all of it is welcome, and none of it is judged.

Prenatal Education

Before the baby comes

An hour before the birth saves a lot of hours after it. A prenatal session covers what the first days actually look like, so you are not learning everything at once while sleep-deprived.

Understanding newborn feeding patterns and early hunger cues
How milk supply develops and how to support it naturally
Setting up your home environment for comfortable feeding
Pumping and expressing milk before or after birth (if needed)
Partner involvement and support for shared confidence

Parents who have done a prenatal session tell us the first weeks were calmer for it — they knew what was normal, and when to call.

Returning to work schedules & planning
Tongue-tie/lip-tie (collaborative support)

Postpartum Care

After the baby comes

The postpartum weeks are close and tender and, sometimes, hard. Lindsay and Sydney work alongside you until feeding is comfortable and you feel like you know what you are doing — because you will.

In-person observation and latch assistance for comfort and efficiency
Support for pumping, milk storage, and supply regulation
Help managing blocked ducts, nipple pain, or mastitis prevention
Guidance for balancing self-care, nutrition, and infant needs
Encouragement for emotional wellbeing and realistic recovery expectations

Care does not stop when the latch improves. Follow-ups are part of it, so you keep having someone to ask.
