Somatic Therapy at Luminate Co

Somatic Therapy

For when the body is holding what the mind has finished talking about.

Book Somatic Therapy
Work with your body, not just your story

Release, restore, reconnect

Somatic therapy at Luminate is led by Caelin Nadin, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. It works with the body's own capacity to settle — the part of you that knows how to come down from stress, given the chance.

Each session is a guided, unhurried hour of paying attention to what your body is doing and letting old patterns of tension unwind at their own pace.

What somatic therapy is

Emotional work that starts with the body, because that is where experience is stored.

Stress, trauma and hard experiences do not only live in memory; they live in the body — in breath, posture, the jaw, the gut. Somatic therapy works there. Rather than only talking about what happened, you learn to notice what your body does with it, and to let that settle.

Grounded in neuroscience and trauma-informed practice, sessions help regulate the nervous system by paying attention to sensation, movement and breath — slowly, and only as far as feels safe.

You may notice warmth, tingling, pressure, or a change in your breathing. Over time you get better at reading these cues — tension, safety, ease — and at responding to them.

The result is feeling more present and more at home in yourself, with a body you trust rather than one you manage.

Why people come

The reasons clients give, more or less in their words.

Chronic stress and burnout

For the tiredness that rest does not fix. Letting go of accumulated tension so rest can actually restore.

Anxiety and overwhelm

Learning to settle the nervous system from the body up, and finding ground when the mind is racing.

Trauma

Processing what the body is still carrying, at your own pace and without having to relive it.

Feeling disconnected

Getting back in touch with what you feel, and rebuilding trust in your own body.

Big transitions

Pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, loss — the changes that reorganise a life.

Physical tension

The tight shoulders, jaw and gut that trace back to stress rather than injury.

Sleep

A nervous system that can switch off is one that can sleep.

Boundaries

Noticing the body's no before the mouth says yes. Unlearning people-pleasing from the inside.

What changes

What clients notice over a series of sessions.

A calmer nervous system

Moving out of a stress response and into steadiness becomes something you can do, not something that happens to you.

Emotions that move through

Feelings held in the body get processed rather than stored, which makes room for the rest of life.

Old stress cycles complete

The body finishes responses it never got to finish — the shaking, the bracing, the breath that stopped halfway.

Trust in your own body

Your body becomes a source of information and safety rather than something to override.

What a session feels like

Gentle and guided. There is no agenda and nothing to perform. You might sit comfortably and simply notice what is going on inside — Caelin does the rest.

Subtle. She helps you slow down and pay attention to things like tightness, warmth, movement or emotion, and what happens when you stay with them.

Your pace. The work goes only as fast and as far as feels safe. Over time clients describe feeling calmer, more embodied and more resilient.

Somatic therapy complements counselling and medical care rather than replacing them. It supports wellbeing through the nervous system; it is not psychotherapy or a medical treatment.
