Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that looks at how the parts of your body work together — bones, muscles, fascia, joints, circulation — and eases the restrictions that are stopping them. At Luminate it is practised by Katie Ryan.
What osteopathy is
Osteopathy treats the body as one connected system. Katie assesses how bones, muscles, fascia and joints are moving in relation to each other, finds where things are strained or stuck, and eases them with slow, precise, non-thrust techniques. Nothing is cracked; most of it feels like being listened to with hands.

Gentle, hands-on assessment
Precise, quiet work that helps the body do its own repair.

Meet Katie Ryan, Osteopathic Manual Therapist
Katie graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, a 4,200-hour programme with more than 1,500 hours of supervised hands-on clinic. She came to osteopathy after seeing how much changed for people when someone finally looked at the whole picture rather than the sore spot.
She starts by understanding what you want to be able to do, then builds calm, precise sessions around it — less strain, better movement, and a body that feels easier to live in.

Good to know
Is osteopathy the same as chiropractic or physiotherapy?
They are separate professions that sometimes overlap. Osteopathic Manual Therapy is gentle, whole-body assessment and soft-tissue, fascial and joint work — no thrust adjustments, no exercise prescription as the main tool. Katie refers to our chiropractor or physiotherapists when that is the better fit, and they refer to her.
What conditions can Osteopathic Manual Therapy help with?
General aches and postural strain, headaches and jaw tension, pregnancy-related discomfort, digestion that seems tied to tension, and mobility that has quietly reduced. If you are not sure, ask — a first assessment will tell you.
Is osteopathy safe?
Yes, with a trained Osteopathic Manual Therapist. Techniques are gentle and non-invasive, and your comfort and consent guide every session.
Do you offer direct billing?
Coverage for Manual Osteopathic Therapy varies. We provide receipts for you to submit; check your plan for the exact wording it covers.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the person and the problem. Many feel a change within one to three visits; long-standing patterns usually do better with a short series and then occasional maintenance.
