Luminate Co is a family-run health food store and clinic in Bedford, with a second store in Dartmouth. Clean groceries, the largest supplement selection in Atlantic Canada, and eleven kinds of care — under one roof, on purpose.
Why we started
Two things bothered us enough to open a business about them.
The grocery store
Most of what fills a big-box shelf is built for shelf life, not for the person eating it. Reading every label gets old.

A store where every product has been read and chosen, and a clinic where practitioners look at the whole person — with the two sharing a wall, because what you eat and how you are cared for are the same conversation.
How a husband-and-wife team ended up running a health food store and a clinic
Will Oud and Sarah Gosse opened Luminate Co in Bedford in 2019. Sarah brought the natural-health knowledge; Will had spent years inside the health system and wanted to build the part of it that keeps people well. The plan was small — a store where a family could shop without reading every label — and then the clinic, and then Dartmouth.
Today Luminate is two stores, a clinic with sixteen practitioners, a same-day delivery service across Halifax, and a lot of regulars. Still family-run. Still reading the labels.
What we stand by
Four things we check every decision against — what we stock, who we hire, how we treat people.
Kindness first
Customers, patients, staff, suppliers. Everyone gets treated the way we would want our own family treated.
Clean shelves
No artificial colours, no synthetic preservatives, nothing we would not eat ourselves. If it is on the shelf, someone here has read the label.
Whole person, root cause
The clinic looks for what is driving a problem, not just what is hurting today.
Local and low-waste
More than a hundred Atlantic Canadian makers on our shelves, a bulk station instead of packaging, and a refillery instead of another bottle.

Where we are going
Bedford was the first. Dartmouth opened in 2025 with the largest organic bulk station in Atlantic Canada, and its clinic follows in spring 2027. We would like there to be a Luminate within reach of every community in the region — one at a time, done properly.
