Highlights
Nutmeg is closely related to mace and has long been used as a culinary spice packed with antioxidant benefits. Originating from Indonesian islands, the nutmeg seed is ground into a powder because the seed is what contains its bioactive ingredient, myristicin. Nutmeg offers a warm, sweet, woody and slightly nutty flavour, but should be used in moderation as it can be overpowering.
