Eden Foods Umeboshi Paste, 200 g

Umeboshi paste is a tangy, salty-sour Japanese condiment made from pickled ume plums, puréed with sea salt and shiso (beefsteak) leaves. Eden makes it with just those three ingredients, and a little goes a long way.

Spread a thin layer on corn on the cob in place of butter and salt, stir it into salad dressings, dips and sauces, or use it to season steamed vegetables and the rice for sushi. Start with a small amount and taste as you go; it is intensely sour.
