Organic Pearl Barley (Bulk)

Organic pearl barley, grown in Canada and sold by weight from the bulk section. Pearl barley has had its outer hull polished away, so it cooks faster than hulled barley and turns pleasantly chewy and a little creamy.

It is the grain for a pot of beef and barley soup, and it also does well in stews, grain salads and risotto-style dishes. Simmer in water or stock until tender, about 30 to 40 minutes. Keep it in a sealed jar in a cool, dry cupboard.

Tootsi’s Organic Pearl Barley is made up of whole barley grains that have been hulled. Pearl barley is mild in flavor and chewy yet tender in texture. For best results, barley can be boiled in water for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until tender. Hearty pearl barley can be used in soups, stews, salads, side dishes, and more.
