Watkins Cream of Tartar, 125 g

Cream of tartar is potassium bitartrate, a fine white powder that belongs in every baking cupboard. It is the only ingredient in this jar, and it is Non-GMO.

Bakers use it to stabilise whipped egg whites so meringues, pavlova and angel food cake hold their volume, and to keep sugar syrups and frostings from going grainy. Mixed with baking soda it makes a homemade baking powder. A recipe usually calls for a pinch or a quarter teaspoon, so a 125 g jar lasts a long time. Keep the lid on tight and the jar dry.
