A Nanaimo bar, the Canadian classic with a crumb base, a custard-flavoured middle and a chocolate top, remade by Syd Delicious so it is both gluten-free and vegan. It is sold as a single bar, cut generously enough to share if you are feeling charitable.

These live in the treat case and are best kept cold; the layers set firm in the fridge and soften quickly at room temperature. Pick one up with a coffee, or grab a few for a birthday table where someone has a dairy or gluten restriction.
