From Annapolis Valley Luffa
Luffa sponges grown in Avonport, Nova Scotia.
Cindy Oulton started growing luffa gourds in Avonport in 2014, starting the seeds in a greenhouse because the plants need 200 days to mature. The sponges and veggie scrubbers are grown without chemicals in Kings County soil and compost when they are done, which makes them the local answer to the plastic dish sponge.
